Antique Davenport Friburg Blue Transferware Plate for Display
Antique Davenport Friburg Blue Transferware Plate for Display
This authentic antique Friburg pattern ironstone plate by Davenport dates to the mid-19th century (circa 1840–1850s) and features a richly detailed blue transferware landscape depicting an ornate home surrounded by trees. The scene is framed by an intricate border design, showcasing the refined craftsmanship of early English transferware.
Measuring approximately 8 inches in diameter, this plate is an exceptional display or wall piece, perfect for collectors of early ironstone and blue transferware. The depth of color and fine detail make it especially striking when displayed on a stand or mounted on a wall.
Condition Notes:
This plate has significant damage to the base rim, which is clearly shown in the photos. Importantly, this damage does not affect stand or wall display, and the front remains visually impressive. There is also crazing throughout, consistent with age. The crazing appears more pronounced in the photos as the piece had just been cleaned.
Despite these condition issues, the plate remains a valuable and decorative antique display piece, reflecting nearly two centuries of history.
